Following news that the Town has reached a conditional agreement to purchase the Eaglecrest Golf Course lands, a period of public consultation will now occur to ensure the purchase reflects the values of our community and delivers significant public benefit to current and future generations.
Alongside this engagement, the Town will conduct a professional traffic study and preliminary site planning. After consultations are completed, Council will make a final purchase decision before the November 1, 2025, deadline.

Background
-
Cost: $8.5 million
-
Land Area: Approximately 42.5 hectares (105 acres)
-
Rationale: This purchase will bring land and golf course into public ownership, ending years of uncertainty and allowing the Town to shape the site’s long-term use.
- Potential Uses (subject to community input):
- Approximately 40% forested parkland with walking trails and habitat restoration.
- 10% of purchased land allocated to housing developments that meet community needs.
- Remaining lands (approximately 50%) for a nine-hole golf course.
- Funding:
- Sale of up to 10% of the land for housing, with the Town as initial developer, subdividing and setting development guidelines with public input.
- Short-term costs covered by reallocating existing budget funds, replenished through land sales.
- Potential sale of other Town-owned Eaglecrest properties.
-
Due Diligence: The acquisition remains subject to technical assessments, consultation, and Council approval by November 1, 2025.
