The Town of Qualicum Beach is pleased to announce that Extreme Eatz Restaurants Inc. (“Extreme Eatz”) has been selected to operate the Eaglecrest Golf Course restaurant.
Through a competitive Request for Proposal process, the Town sought an experienced proponent to operate both the restaurant and the golf course operations. Extreme Eatz provided a strong proposal that included both restaurant experience as well as golf professionals. The restaurant lease represents the first phase of agreements for the Eaglecrest Golf Course. A second agreement for golf course operations is currently being finalized between the Town and Extreme Eatz.
“The Shack Taphouse”, set to open this year for both golf course users and the general public, will provide a welcoming gathering place for residents and visitors alike. The Town and Extreme Eatz will invest in upgrades to the Town-owned building, including kitchen equipment, restaurant and banquet hall furnishings, patio, and more. These improvements represent an investment of over $300,000, with work set to start in the coming weeks.
In their proposal, Extreme Eatz included a strong team experienced in golf course operations, highlighted by the involvement of Head Golf Professional Neil Bidewell and Greens Superintendent Gavin Wilkinson. Together, they have the experience to deliver a high-quality recreational experience. Likewise, heading the restaurant team is Executive Chef Kymon Giakoumakis, with Oura Giakoumakis reviving the banquet hall for weddings and events.
The initial lease term with Extreme Eatz will continue to December 31, 2030, with potential renewal options for one additional five year term to December 31, 2035. The golf course operations agreement will be announced once contract details with Extreme Eatz have been finalized.
