The event aims to discuss how Canada can pull ahead in a highly disruptive and competitive global economy, and most importantly, how Canadians can benefit. Minister Bains will also explain his plans to support Winnipeg's innovation community, the federal government's long-term plan to improve Canada's competitiveness globally, and local projects the government is funding and how they impact the business community.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains was elected as the Member of Parliament for the new riding of Mississauga-Malton and on November 4, 2015 was named Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. He led the development of the Government's Innovation and Skills Plan, which was the centerpiece of the 2017 federal budget. He also led the negotiations that resulted in the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
