The Town of Qualicum Beach invites the community to officially open its highly anticipated new skatepark with a ribbon-cutting on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 am, behind the Civic Centre at 747 Jones Street.
This is a vital project that provides recreational amenities for youth and families in the community. In addition to a modernised skatepark, the project delivers broader improvements to the Community Park, including accessible pathways that link the Civic Centre parking lot and playing fields, as well as multipurpose seating for both the skatepark and nearby amenities.
The project was funded through a $1.2 million allocation from the Town’s Community Amenity Contributions and a grant under the Province of BC’s Growing Communities Fund. In addition, the Qualicum Beach Skaters contributed $130,000, which supported enhancements including coloured concrete and landscaping. Local contractors and suppliers also generously provided discounts and donations to help bring this vision to life.
“This skatepark is a win for youth, families, and the whole community,” said Mayor Westbroek. “It’s a project built with passion, teamwork, and true local spirit.”
“The opening of the Qualicum Beach Skatepark is the result of years of advocacy, fundraising, partnerships and community efforts”, says Lindsay Reed from the Qualicum Beach Skaters group. “QB Skaters is proud to have played a part, building on the work of those who came before us and alongside us. Skaters are excited to have a place that reflects their voice, creativity, and strength.”
All residents and visitors are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 14, at 11:00 am to celebrate this exciting addition to Qualicum Beach.
