The Town of Qualicum Beach is pleased to share the results of the 2025 Quality of Life Survey, revealing that a large majority of residents continue to view the Town as a highly livable, safe, and well-serviced community.
Conducted between January and March 2025 by Deloitte, the survey drew over 1,300 responses, with a 95% confidence level. Respondents shared thoughtful insights on future needs, with many expressing a desire to maintain small-town character while improving infrastructure, walkability, and housing options.
Key Findings:
- 92% of respondents rated their quality of life as good or excellent - exceeding the national benchmark.
- 90% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Town services, with top marks for water service (96%), fire/emergency response (95%), & parks maintenance (95%).
- 98% of respondents reported feeling safe in the community.
- Recreation received high ratings, particularly the Oceanside Ice Arena (95%), park trails (93%), and public beaches (91%).
While overall satisfaction is strong, the study highlights areas for continued improvement, including:
- Parking and community planning.
- Recreational amenities such as pickleball courts, track and field spaces, and aquatic facilities.
- Housing affordability, with 57% of respondents agreeing that the Town is moving in the right direction on housing-related sustainability.
Mayor Teunis Westbroek commented, “We are proud to see such high marks for safety, recreation, and essential services in Qualicum Beach. This feedback helps us shape the Town’s future priorities and ensure that as we grow, we continue to meet the needs of all generations.”
The Survey results will be used to support the 2025 Official Community Plan (OCP) Review, which wraps up its engagement at a Summary Open House on June 5, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre (presentations at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm). Community members are invited to learn more and continue the conversation about the future of housing in the Town.
