(Washington, DC) - Concern about how Washington regulation will impact the use of artificial intelligence was demonstrated this week when over 100 AI corporations joined the National Artificial Intelligence Association (NAIA) in the first seven days since its' formation.
The NAIA is a 501(c)6 non-profit trade association and kicked off operations in DC on Tuesday, January 7th. The new trade group holds a single mandate: to ensure unparalleled innovation, opportunities, and global competitiveness for American startups and enterprises building in AI. The trade association will be the leading voice for the AI industry in Washington and will work with Congress and the new Trump Administration as AI transforms all aspects of commerce and ways of life.
"We are excited to see such a positive response to having an AI voice in our Nation's Capitol" stated Aaron Golbin, Co-Chair of NAIA and Managing Partner of LVLUp Ventures. "Many of our Members are artificial intelligence startup companies with innovative ideas providing economic benefits to all of society. NAIA will work with our policy makers in Washington to ensure that AI-related regulations do not impede keeping our country in the important global leadership position."
NAIA will communicate with Capitol Hill; the Administration and State government on behalf of its membership; disseminate the latest news on pending legislation via its' weekly "NAIA Digest: AI in Washington" and regulations to its' members; and bring the American government and private sector together to propel our Nation and the world forward, unlocking a level of technological ingenuity and breadth of impact not seen before.
Caleb Max, Co-Chair of NAIA and the new organization's lead on Capitol Hill commented, "In the 118th Congressional session over 120 bills were introduced in Congress and the Biden Administration has issued executive orders that require federal agencies to develop standards and metrics to test AI systems. NAIA is concerned that implementing these governmental mandates will limit AI development and increase costs, especially for our entrepreneurial startups in this space."
