Sunderland Ontario - September 26, 2019 - The Mayor and Members of Council, together with members of the Brock Accessibility Advisory Committee (BAAC) presented the 2019 Township of Brock Accessibility Award to John Vanderlee, owner of the Sunderland Pharmacy on Tuesday September 24,2 019.
The Township of Brock Accessibility Award is presented once a year to an organization or business in Brock that has shown a concerted effort to improve accessibility. Improved accessibility can mean either physical alterations or new programs and features that reduce barriers and permit greater access to services for those with disabilities. The purpose of this recognition is to thank the organization or business for its efforts, and to encourage other organizations and businesses in the community to make accessible improvements.
The Sunderland Pharmacy underwent numerous changes for the benefits of their patrons including the installation of a ramp along the east side of the building, an accessible entrance, wider aisles and increased room in the pharmacy area.
Mayor Bath-Hadden read the nomination letter submitted to BAAC by a resident of the Township for the Sunderland Pharmacy, and presented the award to owner John Vanderlee thanking him and his wife Karen Vanderlee for their dedication to the residents of the Township. Mr. Vanderlee thanked Council and Committee and expressed his appreciation for the award, noting the importance of providing a well built, accessible environment for all patrons to use and enjoy.
