WINDSOR, ON, December 11, 2020 - WE-SPARK Health Institute has acquired REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture), a secure, web-based application for building and managing online research projects.
REDCap was developed by Vanderbilt University and is widely used by best-in-class academic research centres and government agencies around the world to support clinical and translational research studies.
REDCap will allow researchers across Windsor-Essex to seamlessly collect, store and share de-identified health research data with collaborators efficiently and under one platform. Its flexibility and customization will allow researchers to increase the quality of their research data and increase efficiencies in the data lifecycle management.
“With the number of collaborative, cross-institutional research projects growing across our region, we needed to have shared tools available to all health research stakeholders to enhance collaboration and reduce redundant systems” said Dr. Lisa Porter, Executive Director. “REDCap is a game-changer and puts us on the map with other world-class research institutes.”
The pilot phase is completed, and now has 21 active users, 12 projects and over 649 records / participants across a variety of research and organizational projects.
WE-SPARK Health Institute acquired the software with support provided by The University of Windsor’s IT services and the Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS).
To be granted a REDCap account, individuals must be members of WE-SPARK Health Institute and belong to one of its partner organizations: Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, St. Clair College, University of Windsor, or Windsor Regional Hospital. For more information, click here.
