ASHEVILLE, NC, April 14, 2021 The nonprofit Quilt Alliance announces sponsors for the 2021 edition of their virtual event, Quilters Take a Moment (QTM).

The QTM 2021 fundraiser marks the 9th event in the Alliance's Quilters Take Manhattan series and will be held virtually September 17-18, 2021. Moda Fabrics + Supplies serves as Presenting Sponsor and underwriter for this year’s Spotlight QSOS interview with Bisa Butler conducted by Dr. Carolyn L. Mazloomi. Butler's interview will be archived, along with 1,200 other interviews with quiltmakers in the QSOS project, by our partners at the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History at the University of Kentucky, and at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

Moda president Mark Dunn, who also serves as Vice President of the Quilt Alliance board of directors, has championed the importance of the national nonprofit for over 20 years.

The Quilt Alliance protects a critical connection between quilts and people--history. It is so important to document and preserve the stories of quilts while the maker is alive and able to share them. The Alliance promotes the value of every quilt by every maker, from hand quilters to longarmers, new quilters to experienced professionals, from young to old. Quilters Take a Moment highlights the incredible diversity in our community. Moda is proud to partner with the Quilt Alliance on this event and I’d like to thank my colleagues who have joined me in sponsoring this important work. -- Mark Dunn

Aurifil, also a longtime supporter of the Quilt Alliance, will again serve as a Platinum sponsor and underwriter for the Remembrances & Commemoration in Quiltmaking panel discussion featuring artists Alexis Deise, Zak Foster, L’Merchie Frazier, and Susan Hudson, moderated by Janneken Smucker. Aurifil’s COO and Director of Marketing Bradley Mitchell also serves on the Quilt Alliance board and chairs the QTM 2021 committee.

Gold level sponsors include the Modern Quilt Guild (returning sponsor from QTM 2020) and new sponsor Brother International Corporation. These partners serve as underwriters for the Textile Museum Show & Share segment that will bring together curators to share great quilts from their collections all over the United States.

Document That Quilt!, a new add-on workshop this year, is underwritten by Silver sponsors. Sponsors at the Silver level this year are all returning supporters, including: eQuilter, Oliso, Mistyfuse, Make It Simpler, Gotham Quilts, Oh Sew Sally! and Windham Fabrics

Bronze sponsors for 2021 include returning supporters Bernina of America and Cherrywood Fabrics, and new sponsors Mettler and Suzy Quilts

A new fundraising component of the event this year is a special project kit—the Fabric Flower Mini-Quilt Project that anyone can purchase on the event website. The kit was designed by Allie Aller and is underwritten by project partners M & S Schmalberg, Shades Textiles, and Mountain Mist Crafts.

Event attendees will have a chance to hear directly from our sponsors again this year during the Shop Talk Panel Discussion. QTM tickets will include both live and prerecorded content, as well as a virtual exhibition of quilts curated by Quilt Alliance board member Laura Hopper. [View the 2020 QTM exhibition, "Known & Unknown," also curated by Hopper.]
