What is Epiphany?
Epiphany is one of the most joyous feast days in the church year as we celebrate the visit of the Magi and Jesus’ coming as Savior of all people. Because it happens 12 days after Christmas, the celebration can be lost in post-holiday fatigue. However, with a little creative thinking, this holy day can shine. Here are ideas to spark your Epiphany brainstorming session!

New Lenten Resources for 2019
Si mon Peter by Adam Hamilton - now available!
He left everything to follow his teacher and possessed a passion that would change the world. That’s one way to describe Peter. Here’s another: poor, uneducated, quick-tempered, and full of doubts and fears. Doesn’t even sound like the same man. And that’s the point of Simon Peter, a six-week adult Bible study by Adam Hamilton. Peter was just an ordinary guy who heard and followed God’s extraordinary call. Discover how you, too, have special gifts, talents, and abilities that God can use to make a difference today. In addition to the Leader Guide and DVD components for adult studies, corresponding youth and children’s resources, can be used to create a church-wide study.

Chapters Include:
  1. The Call of the Fisherman
  2. Walking with Jesus in the Storm
  3. Bedrock or Stumbling Block?
  4. “I Will Not Deny You”
  5. From Cowardice to Courage
  6. The Rest of the Story

The Case for Easter - by Lee Strobel
Did Jesus of Nazareth really rise from the dead? Of the many world religions, only one claims that its founder returned from the grave. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the very cornerstone of Christianity.

But a dead man coming back to life? In our sophisticated age, when myth has given way to science, who can take such a claim seriously? Some argue that Jesus never died on the cross. Conflicting accounts make the empty tomb seem suspect.

How credible is the evidence for--and against--the resurrection? Focusing his award-winning skills as a legal journalist on history's most compelling enigma, Lee Strobel retraces the startling findings that led him from atheism to belief. He examines:

  • The Medical Evidence--Was Jesus' death a sham and his resurrection a hoax?
  • The Evidence of the Missing Body--Was Jesus' body really absent from his tomb?
  • The Evidence of Appearances--Was Jesus seen alive after his death on the cross?

Written in a hard-hitting journalistic style, The Case for Easter probes the core issues of the resurrection. Jesus Christ, risen from the dead: superstitious myth or life-changing reality? The evidence is in. The verdict is up to you.

This case contains one DVD of The Case for Christmas Video Study and one DVD of The Case for Easter Video Study.

Christianity and World Religions - Revised Edition by Adam Hamilton
If there ever was a time when Christians needed to build bridges with others, seeking peace in our world, loving our neighbors, and finding positive ways to share the gospel, it is now. In Christianity and World Religions, Revised Edition, Adam Hamilton deals with questions so many of us have about the four major world religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Judaism—and compares the beliefs of each with those of Christianity. In his trademark honest and open writing style, Hamilton helps answer questions such as:

  • Why are there so many different religions?
  • How should we view their beliefs?
  • What is the fate of those who have these beliefs?

Although the book is a stand-alone resource, combined with the DVD and Leader Guide, it becomes an especially relevant six-week study for Christians at all stages in their spiritual journey.

The DVD includes six new video sessions featuring Adam Hamilton in 10–15 minute presentations. Each session includes Hamilton interviewing religious leaders from each tradition. All videos sessions are closed captioned.

Entering the Passion of Jesus - by Amy-Jill Levine
Jesus’ final days were full of risk. Every move he made was filled with anticipation, danger, and the potential for great loss or great reward. Jesus risked his reputation when he entered Jerusalem in a victory parade. He risked his life when he dared to teach in the Temple. His followers risked everything when they left behind their homes, or anointed him with costly perfume. We take risks as we read and re-read these stories, finding new meanings and new challenges.

In Entering the Passion of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week, author, professor, and biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine explores the biblical texts surrounding the Passion story. She shows us how the text raises ethical and spiritual questions for the reader, and how we all face risk in our Christian experience. The book provides a rich and challenging learning experience for small groups and individual readers alike. As part of a larger six-week study that is perfect for Lent, it includes a DVD, a comprehensive Leader Guide, and a Participant Book.

The book’s six chapters include:
  1. Jerusalem: Risking Reputation
  2. The Temple: Risking Righteous Anger
  3. Teachings: Risking Challenge
  4. The First Dinner: Risking Rejection
  5. The Last Supper: Risking the Loss of Friends
  6. Gethsemane: Risking Temptation

The kit includes the book, a comprehensive Leader Guide, and a DVD featuring the engaging teaching style of Dr. Levine building on the topics and themes found in the book.
