Media Statement - Airport Closure Misinformation

The Town of Qualicum Beach is aware of misinformation circulating, suggesting that Council will vote on closing the Qualicum Beach Airport at the July 8, 2026, Committee of the Whole meeting. There is no intent to close the Airport.

The Committee of the Whole meeting is one of Council's regular bi-annual Airport update meetings. The purpose of the meeting is to provide Council and the public with an update on Airport operations, current initiatives, and ongoing operational matters related to the Airport. As part of the meeting, members of the public will also have an opportunity to provide comment to Council on Airport matters.

The Town encourages residents to refer to official Council agendas and information published by the Town for accurate information regarding Council meetings and decisions.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting, however it should be noted that the meeting location has the physical capacity to hold 92 people. The meeting will also be livestreamed online and available through the Town's YouTube channel.
