Calgary, Alberta. (Nov. 2, 2026) – In one week, the Canadian Forage and Grassland Association (CFGA) will welcome producers, researchers, policymakers, industry leaders and conservation partners from across the country to Calgary Nov. 9 to 12 for its 17th annual conference.
The conference is being co-hosted by the Agriculture Research and Extension Council of Alberta (ARECA), bringing together national and provincial expertise to showcase the innovations, partnerships and producer leadership shaping the future of grazing and grassland management across Canada.
“Alberta's strong forage and grazing sector, combined with Calgary's accessibility, make it an ideal location to bring together people from across the country to share ideas, build connections and explore solutions for the future of Canadian agriculture,” said ARECA executive director Alan Hall.
Recognized as one of Canada's premier events dedicated to grazing, grasslands and forage production, the conference provides a unique opportunity to connect with leading experts and fellow producers while exploring practical solutions to the challenges and opportunities facing Canadian agriculture.
From building drought resilience and improving grazing management to adopting new technologies and navigating evolving policy landscapes, the conference will showcase ideas, research and on-the-ground experiences that help producers strengthen both their operations and the landscapes they steward.
"Canada's grasslands support livestock production, biodiversity, healthy watersheds and rural communities," said CFGA executive director Cedric MacLeod. "Our conference brings together the people who are shaping the future of these working landscapes. It's an opportunity to learn from one another, share practical experiences and explore solutions that benefit both producers and the environment."
At a time when producers are navigating market uncertainty, climate variability and evolving consumer expectations, the conference offers practical insights and real-world solutions from across Canada and beyond.
Conference programming features:
- A farm tour featuring three stops that showcase innovative grazing management, environmental stewardship, applied research and forage exports of timothy hay, non-GMO alfalfa and mixed hay
- Two days of thought-provoking presentations and panels showcasing emerging technologies and innovations, practical approaches to resilient agriculture, producer leadership, grassland stewardship and the future of Canada's forage and livestock sectors
- Two engaging full-day workshops:
