Meditation Provides Enormous Benefits,
Let the Doctor teach you how to gain them the easy way.

Hello scott,
As a surgeon, my primary focus has always been providing the best possible care for my patients. Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the detrimental effects of opioid use as well as surgeries with less-than-ideal outcomes. Recognizing the need for safer alternatives, I have become an advocate for meditation as part of a comprehensive pain management strategy.
In my books, I actually teach Medical Meditation! They are also about alternatives to surgery, aggressive medical interventions, and Opioids - all of which can have deleterious effects on patients! And, it’s a great way to relax, lower your blood pressure, sleep better and decrease anxiety…plus its complication-free, other than feeling great!
And for those who are recovering from injuries, add treatments like therapy, lifestyle modification, massage, semi-flexible - step-down braces, and small changes to your activities, exercise program, and diet are often all it takes to heal!
Take it from a surgeon, who has seen it all… every medication you take, every surgery you have, every invasive procedure that is considered for you, even the “minor procedures”, the “safe ones“- have real and sometimes substantial complications and consequences for your life.

How Do I Tune It All Out? | |
|
When embarking on a meditation practice, it's common to encounter mental noise that can disrupt your focus and hinder the tranquility you seek. To create a serene space for meditation, consider the following tips to eliminate outside noises and distractions:
-
Find a Quiet Sanctuary: Choose a peaceful environment where you can minimize external disturbances. Opt for a secluded room, a serene corner of your home, or a tranquil outdoor spot where you can retreat and find solace.
-
Eliminate Visual Distractions: Eliminating visual and auditory distractions promoting a sense of focus and calm is a great way to improve your meditation - simply close your eyes and breathe!
| |
|
-
Create a Calming Soundscape: Counteract ambient noises by introducing soothing sounds. Play gentle instrumental music, nature sounds, or guided meditation tracks to help establish a serene atmosphere.
- The Doctor's Meditation Mask lets you comfortably use your own apple airpods or ear buds to help fully immerse you in your meditation. Shut out the external world and immerse yourself in your music, the present moment or the doctor’s meditation audios that come with his books.
Don't let mental noise hinder your journey toward inner peace, we all have it, medical meditation simply helps you decrease its volume. Embrace these techniques to create a serene sanctuary for meditation, and take your practice to new heights with the Doctor's Meditation Mask—an wonderful tool to eliminate distractions and deepen your connection with yourself.

Pair Your Mental Practices with Physical Support to Help Reduce Pain | The Doctor recommends considering braces or splints, which help reduce inflammation and decrease discomfort along with therapy modalities such as TENS, Stim, hi volt, ultrasound, iontophoresis, paraffin, massage, and resting the joint, especially using the splints at night and with stressful activities, as the first line of treatment to calm inflammation and reduce pain without surgery or medication. | | |

Dr Fried (or Doctor Scott to many) is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity specialist who emphasizes conservative care for people whenever possible. He founded The Upper Extremity Institute and then Doctor in the House 30 years ago based on the concept of helping people to heal themselves.
To quote the doctor:
"I have treated thousands of patients with arthritis, tendinitis, disc problems, carpal tunnel and complex nerve injuries over many years of practice. I have lectured and written extensively on pain and nerve disease and the advantages of standard and alternative healing methods. One thing I have come to understand is that patients can often heal themselves.
If you are struggling with nerve pain, facing surgery, trying to reduce your dependence on medications, having difficulty sleeping or simply suffering, I hope that my new book, The Opioid Alternative, can provide you with a few ideas to guide you through the process of feeling better through simple techniques you can do at home, to help alleviate your pain!
Don't place yourself at risk of becoming addicted to medications like painkillers, sleep medication, or anti-depressants. There are effective methods I have taught to thousands of patients, and I want to share them with you."
