  Stafford's McLane Mid-Atlantic Boasts

Astounding Retention Rate

Jackie Palmer, new division President of McLane MidAtlantic, met with Board of Supervisors Chairman Gary Snellings and Economic Development staff recently
to provide a business update and tour of the transportation firm located on U.S. 17. Current employment at McLane is 683. Even more impressive, the retention rate at McLane is over 90%, and average tenure exceeds 18 years. The tour was a "Homecoming" for Chairman Snellings, who pointed out the racking area where he started as a stockboy with McLane in October of 1973. Gary rose in rank, retiring as a Vice President. Many employees stopped him on the tour to say hello. Their staff badges include years of employment, and ranged from 2 years to 42 years in the facility.

Jackie started with the firm in California, lives in Stafford County, and enjoys the hectic pace of running one of the region's largest private businesses. After 26 years of experience with Southland and McLane, Jackie brings great experience, energy and enthusiasm to her role there. She often speaks to local college students at Leadership events, educating them on teamwork and talent development. Jackie and her team.  She is pictured here on the far right.   Read More.

September 22-25 at Marine Corps Base Quantico the troops and hundreds of companies that support them turned out to show the war fighters the newest equipment, materials, supplies and support technology. Business Profile - JBR
This Business is in Jack Bailey's Genes
ALL of the Jack Baileys' made the  earth move in their careers.
It looks like a modest operation when you visit Jack Bailey's office.  It's not until you get on the job site that you see the investment and the expertise that have helped build Stafford County for nearly 30 years. Four  generations have worked in the site development business. JBR, Inc. is owned by Jack Bailey, III.  JBR does contracting work for public and private concerns all over this region and in Richmond, NOVA and Maryland.  JBR has 30 pieces of heavy equipment in Stafford, worth millions of dollars.   The list of commercial and residential development that Jack Bailey has worked on in Stafford is far too long for this format.  But it is impressive and includes the initial infrastructure for Riverside Business Park and the North Stafford Plaza and about 30 other commercial/residential tracts.
See red circle - Jack Bailey, III sitting beside his
grandfather on a NC construction site.
Jack remembers loving it when they would use dynamite.
Jack and his wife have lived in Aquia Harbour since 1986 and raised their family in Stafford.  He remembers when Garrisonville Road was only two lanes.
"We now have our son 'Young Jack' and 40 employees working  right around the corner from a site his grandfather developed."
