Dr. Joseph Sullivan is an Associate Professor of Neurology & Pediatrics at The University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and serves as Director of the UCSF Pediatric Epilepsy Program.
Dr. Sullivan's clinical work focuses on evaluating children with treatment resistant epilepsy for epilepsy surgery.
Dr. Sullivan also has a particular interest in Dravet Syndrome and PCDH19 Girls Clustering Epilepsy, where he serves as an investigator on clinical trials for each of these conditions.
Prior to joining UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in 2007, Dr. Sullivan completed a residency in Pediatrics at Children's Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University where he spent an additional year as Chief Resident. He then completed his Child Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology/Epilepsy training at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
In Dr. Sullivan's spare time he enjoys cooking and gardening, wine collecting, skiing, and backpacking in the Sierras with his family. He has also volunteered for the last six years as Medical Director of theEFNC Coelho Epilepsy Youth Summer Camp where his wife, Dr. Sara Sullivan, and their two daughters volunteer as well.
