Rachel Kuperman M.D. was born in Washington, D.C. moving more than ten times before marrying a Bay Area native and settling down in the East Bay. She received her
undergraduate degree in physics at the University of California, San Diego and attended m
edical school at the University of California, San Francisco before pursuing her Pediatric Neurology Residency at Columbia Presbyterian NYC and Epilepsy Fellowship at UCSF.
Dr. Kuperman enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, ages 6 and 9, who keep her quite busy!
When she is not on hospital call, Dr. Kuperman enjoys swimming on a masters team, camping and hiking, when her children's baseball, gymnastics and basketball schedules allow.
After years of training, Dr. Kuperman started her first job at the age of 32 and is currently the Medical Director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Program and heads the Tuberous Sclerosis Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. She runs multiple clinical trials at CHO such as the treatment of neonatal seizures, tuberous sclerosis and home seizure detection. Rachel has been involved with the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California since 2008 and now serves as Co-Chair of our Professional Advisory Board. One of her favorite EFNC programs is Camp Coelho.
