Kimford Meador M.D.

Kimford Meador, M.D., is a Professor of Neurology and Neurosciences at Stanford University and the Clinical Director of the Stanford Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Applied Biology and received his MD from the Medical College of Georgia. Prior to joining Stanford in 2013, Dr. Meador completed his internship at the University of Virginia, his neurology residency at the Medical College of Georgia, and his fellowship training at the University of Florida. He credits much of his knowledge to his work with the faculties of the Medical College of Georgia, Georgetown University, the University of Florida, and Emory University.

Dr. Kim Meador's research focuses on the  cognitive and behavioral effects of epilepsy and its treatments. He has directed a long running NIH multi-center study of pregnancy outcomes in women  with epilepsy and their children. The MONEAD Study  strives to better understand how anti epilepsy drug use during pregnancy affects both maternal and neonatal outcomes. 

Other research interests include: cognitive mechanisms including conscious perception, cerebral lateralization, pharmacology and physiology of cognition, epilepsy, functional imaging, therapeutic drug trials and neuropsychiatric disorders.

Dr. Meador was born in New Orleans and grew up in Atlanta with his two siblings and mother who worked at the Center for Disease Control. In his spare time, Dr. Meador enjoys spending time with his family, in particular his four children and three grandchildren. He also enjoys painting, fishing and sailing

Dr. Meador has received the following
honors: Resident Teaching Award Medical College of Georgia; Distinguished Faculty Award for Clinical Research Medical College of Georgia; past Chair Georgetown University; endowed Chairs at Medical College of Georgia and University of Florida; past Chair of Behavioral Neurology Section of American Academy of Neurology; past President of Society for Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology; past President of the Southern EEG & Epilepsy Society; Distinguished Alumnus Award for Professional Achievement, Medical College of Georgia; Chair of Epilepsy Section American Academy of Neurology; and American Epilepsy Society Clinical Research Award.

outreach and education in our Northern California community!
