ABFE WELCOMES TAHIRA CHRISTMON
AS VP OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

ABFE: A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities has named Tahira Christmon as its new Vice President of External Affairs. Charged with advancing ABFE’s mission and brand, she will lead the organization’s development, membership, partnerships, and communications priorities.

“We are thrilled to have Tahira’s leadership, creativity, and passion for philanthropy on the ABFE team,” said Susan Taylor Batten, President and CEO at ABFE. “As a member of the leadership team she will play a pivotal role in supporting ABFE’s commitment to increasing philanthropic resources to Black communities and ensuring our members and partners are equipped with the support and tools to leverage resources needed to realize greater social impact for Black communities”.

Before joining ABFE, Christmon was the director of membership for the Council on Foundations. There, she was instrumental in the design and strategic direction of all membership and engagement initiatives. She also led in the development of the organization’s new strategy, implemented the Council’s new membership model, and relaunched their online peer-to-peer platform which saw record growth under her guidance. Prior to the joining the Council, Christmon served in various membership, communications, and cause marketing roles at Goodwill Industries International.

“I am excited to join ABFE, particularly during this extraordinary time in our nation’s history as so many are awakening to the persistent structural inequities of our country. As Black communities continue to grapple with unprecedented challenges, the philanthropic sector must remain creative, vigilant, and courageous in our responsibility to make unparalleled commitments above and beyond our current structures and ways of thinking,” said Christmon. “As ABFE celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, we will use this historic milestone to celebrate our journey and ignite a new path, focused on making substantial impact toward racial justice.”
