A well performing bobbin is a vital tool for fly tiers. Our unique tapered protrusion insures maximum thread spool tension and the bobbin’s ruby tip will keep the thread moving smoothly and prevents your fly tying thread to cut into the bobbin tube. Made in the USA!

The Ruby Tip Bobbins come in four sizes:
  • Small/Midge – Length: 2″ ID: 3/32″
  • Small/Midge Saltwater: Length: 2 3/4″ ID:3/32″
  • Large/Standard – Length: 2″ ID:1/8″

Modified Circus Peanut
Fly Tied by Russ Maddin
One of Russ Maddin's most well known patterns, the Circus Peanut, has caught many fish around the world. Over the years, Russ has modified the pattern in different ways.
  • Rear Hook: Ahrex TP 605
  • Front Hook: Ahrex TP 605
  • Body: Polar Chenille
  • Connection: Mono or wire, and bead
  • Tail: Marabou
  • Collar: Marabou, flashabou, and silly legs
  • Weighting system: lead, bead chain eyes, or no weight
  • Hackle: Hen, saddle, or schlappen.
  • Tier tip: leave a wrap or two of the web at the base of the feather. Pick colors that highlight or contrast the color of the fly.
  • Head: Lively Legs Crustacean Brush 1/2" or 1"
