Cheryl Gibson

Cheryl Gibson was born in Wilmington, North Carolina to a musical family. Her mother and grandmother were both accomplished musicians. Their musical gifts significantly influenced the diverse “signature” style of Cheryl’s performances.
Her formal education was received in Lawton, Oklahoma a product of a military family. She began signing with several choirs as a young soloist. Upon graduation from high school, she received a music scholarship to attend Cameron University where she completed her bachelor’s degree. While matriculating at Cameron, Cheryl performed with the Concert Choir and Jazz ensemble. She studied voice with Charles Thomas and competed in the National Association of Teacher of Singing (N.A.T.S.) contests.
Cheryl later moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was a member of the Ambassador’s Concert Choir.  She later felt a desire to broaden her business talents and musical gifts and relocated to Tampa, Florida and very shortly became the Mass Choir Director for the New Mount Zion Baptist Church and Tampa Chapter Representative Assistant for the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America.
As a concert artist, Ms. Gibson has been a featured soloist for church choirs, theater productions and various venues across the country. Cheryl is realizing her childhood ambition by releasing an album, entitled "Ain’t Nobody Like Jesus ", which underlies the talents that Cheryl has progressed over the recent years. The songs provide a rhythmic undercurrent that bears testament to her life experiences.
Cheryl was instrumental in arranging and co-writing most of the songs on her album. She took the liberty of fusing Gospel; Jazz; Classical and R&B to create a musical tapestry for listeners.
Cheryl lived in South Florida for about 18 years, where she was the Praise and Worship Leader for several churches during her time there.  Currently she resides in Lake County, FL and still does musical performances for churches and other venues in the surrounding area.
