Cory is UPI Aquatics’ new account manager for the Southwest Region. In this position, he covers California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, as well as parts of Nebraska and Texas.
He brings nearly 20 years of experience in environmental management in the Western states to his new position.
Cory’s career includes working for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Oregon, North Dakota, and Idaho. At the NRCS, his duties including consulting with irrigation districts on systems improvements, grant writing, and ensuring compliance with EPA policy mandates.
He later worked as a Project Agronomist for the three major irrigation districts in the Bureau of Reclamation's Columbia River Project – the South Columbia Basin Irrigation District, the Quincy-Columbia Irrigation District, and the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District – a position he describes a “crash course” in aquatic vegetative management. It was in that position that he began working with Cascade and Teton.
Cory studied at Washington State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a master’s degree in Biological Systems Engineering.
"I have a research-oriented mind," Cory says. "I like to look for better, easier, and more efficient ways to do things, while at the same time being diligent about protecting the environment."
