Dear Friend,
Grace McKay was only 8-years-old when she received a frightening cancer diagnosis. She had T-Cell Lymphoma. At the time when she should have been in school and meeting new friends, Grace was facing intense chemotherapy, blood draws, and hair loss. Grace's mom, Aletha, remembers how her friendly, upbeat daughter "had become withdrawn."
Thankfully, Grace and the McKay family were connected to Kids Kicking Cancer's Heroes Circle.
The Heroes Circle, a global healing and wellness initiative inspired by the children of Kids Kicking Cancer, was designed to complement the work of pediatric health care professionals. Our therapeutic martial arts program is evidence-based and has proven to help reduce the pain and stress of children suffering from cancer and other pediatric illnesses; children like Grace, who believe in the power of the martial arts and found healing in becoming a teacher to others.
In class, Grace was able to learn how to use Power Breathing to manage the fear associated with cancer treatment. She also met children like herself, children dealing with everything from cancer to heart disease, who have journeyed from a place of darkness to empowering light.
Will you please help us continue to support and empower more children like Grace?
This season, and every season, we count on the generosity of people like YOU to help us provide our unique non-contact martial arts-based therapies to families like the McKay's. The more successful we have become, the greater the demand for our services. You can help us reach those children.
