Meet Jessica - Superstar LUM Volunteer

LUM Volunteer of the Month - March 2025

Originally from Naperville, Jessica is a Purdue University alumna with degrees in Civil Engineering and Agronomy. She first connected with LUM through Jubilee Christmas, where she saw firsthand LUM’s commitment to supporting people’s dignity and ensuring no client leaves empty-handed. For nearly four years, Jessica has served as a volunteer afternoon receptionist and Tax Assistance Program volunteer, providing a warm welcome and critical support to those in need.

I appreciate that LUM doesn’t just focus on charity but on removing barriers that hold people back,” Jessica shares. “As with the parents in Jubilee Christmas, I’ve seen how LUM empowers people by offering support that fosters independence.” Beyond volunteering, Jessica enjoys knitting, sewing, and playing the flute with the Lafayette Flute Choir and is excited to perform at the LUM We’ve Got Talent fundraising event on April 11.

LUM is grateful for Jessica’s dedication and compassion. Thank you, Jessica, for your commitment to LUM and the community! If you are inspired by Jessica’s story and wish to volunteer with LUM, please check out all of the opportunities on the LUM website at https://www.lumserve.org/volunteer/. Honoring & Celebrating the Women of LUM

National Women's History Month 2025

March marks Women's History Month, and Lafayette Urban Ministry proudly recognizes the extraordinary contributions of women who lead, serve, and uplift the community.

Since the early 1960s, countless women have shaped the success of LUM through their dedication, advocacy, and service. Their contributions have played a pivotal role in advancing the LUM mission—tackling basic human needs and uplifting the people of Greater Lafayette.

LUM invites the community to join in honoring their achievements and recognizing their lasting impact.

Together, their leadership, resilience, and commitment create a better future. To see a list of the LUM women leaders pictured above, click HERE.
