Your monthly update for February 2018

While periodic market declines are the necessary and normal price of successful investing, I understand that sudden market downturns — like those we’ve seen in the past few days — can be unnerving.

That’s why I wanted to share the following article that helps provide more perspective on these recent declines and puts them into context: Putting Recent Market Volatility in Perspective .

My role as an Advisor is to help people manage market ups and downs, and try to keep them on track towards what matters most — achieving their long-term goals.

As always, I encourage you to call me if you have any questions about the recent market volatility.
Market Commentary
As we transitioned from 2017 to 2018, equity markets continued their advance, with all three major U.S. indices posting large gains in January. The Nasdaq Composite led the way, climbing 7.40 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 Index followed closely behind with gains of 5.88 percent and 5.73 percent, respectively. Despite a dip at the end of the period, this was another great month for investors.

Making His Debut
It's great to announce that Sam is back in the office after her maternity leave.

Diane did an excellent job of keeping things organized in her absence. We are all grateful that Sam is back in the office, and appreciate Diane's help over the last few weeks.

We congratulate Sam on her sweet, healthy little boy! He is adorable, and I'm glad that we were able to offer her the opportunity to spend these past few weeks at home with him.

Here is a photo of Kevin Jr for all of you who have asked. That hair!
Don't Wait to Ask Aging Parents These Important Questions
It's human nature to put off complicated or emotionally heavy tasks. Talking with aging parents about their finances, health, and overall well-being might fall in this category.

Thought for the Day
Valentines Day is right around the corner. If you are having trouble finding the perfect gift, take a look at the fun things offered around Philadelphia.

Some of these are unique experiences that you and your significant other will talk about for years to come.
