Fifteen years ago, I was attending a class at Rising Phoenix in western Maryland and I saw a lot of cards hanging on the wall. I was told they had come from a recent SoulCollage® workshop. They were so powerful and drew me in so much that I googled them and signed up for a class with Kathryn Johnson! The process fits my processing mode of Visual, Kinesthetic, Audio. I see images, collage/massage them and then can speak with them. I finally felt understood—by me, to me, for me.

My advice to other SoulCollagers is to soften boundaries/rules that you think exist, either from your own experience or rules from the outside world.

From the card making perspective, I discovered three things that set me free:

I also am enjoying the growing community here at KaleidoSoul. I was just reminded by former students of how powerful this work has been for them. I really enjoy hearing these stories.

As for my process, I make cards when I feel called or when I’m attending a class. Sometimes a theme presents itself, and sometimes I feel the making of the card is an alchemical process that usually leaves me with a “mystery card.”

I recently processed an event in my life using SoulCollage®. I was invited to a small social event of five ladies. Upon arriving, I was clearly the fifth wheel. I practiced being the Observer, realizing that there was a dynamic going on that did not include me. I excused myself, went home and processed the event, welcoming five Neters (cards) to speak. Because I was able to quickly diffuse the situation for myself through the card making, I was able to have a very loving conversation with the hostess the next day.

This card was born early on, about fifteen years ago. It changed how I did SoulCollage®. It truly was a breakthrough in techniques and perceived barriers.

This card was born a year ago when I discovered I had a thyroid goiter, and had it scanned, then biopsied for cancer. In the three months between those tests, I did a slew of healing activities which I believe led to the "no cancer" result. Despite most folks telling me it was “no big deal,” it was a big deal for me and I wanted to practice what I preach. This card represents the process, the event of my healing, which involved many folks in my community. So that's why I put it in the Community Suit. It could go under Committee as something like I am the one who asks and accepts healing help. I used to embellish a lot because I am a mermaid and I love bling, and then I stopped, but this one needed a healing crystal at the throat.
