Meet McGehee, a school where your daughter will open her mind, never stop learning, and transform the world.
Louise S. McGehee School
Meet McGehee. Where academics meet the arts and where our girls learn to think creatively and critically. Where girls and young women aren’t afraid to ask questions, take risks and grow. Where our girls discover a lifelong love of learning as well as lifelong friendships. It is more than an education, it’s an experience. And perhaps the most remarkable thing about McGehee is the incredible growth that occurs between a girl’s first day here as a student, and her last day as an alumna-to-be.
The only all-girls, non-denominational school in the greater New Orleans area.
McGehee’s low student/teacher ratio means that each girl gets individualized attention.
100% of student leadership positions are held by girls: the Student Body President is a girl, the lead in the play is a girl, the captain of the Robotics team is a girl, the captain of the soccer team is a girl. The visibility of girls and women on campus is deeply important to McGehee’s culture of learning and success.
Athletics at McGehee is not a diversion; it is an extension of our educational program.
McGehee girls hold themselves and their classmates to a higher standard because of our 100-year-old Honor Code. In 1921, McGehee introduced the first Honor Code in New Orleans, so honesty, trust and personal responsibility are entrenched in school culture and embraced by students at an early age.
95% of 2021 graduates were accepted into one or more of their top three colleges.
Over one-third of all families at McGehee qualify for tuition assistance, with an annual budget of $1.1 million dollars offered to support families. Inclusion is part of our mission, and we are excited to partner with families to make a McGehee education a financial reality.
The Louise S. McGehee School is open to all qualified girls regardless of race, religion, national or ethnic origin.
