CUNY Callouts: Meet New Faces

Mariela Feliciano Tejeda, BMCC 23, is paving her own path to success. The first-gen college student and mom of three navigated the challenge of raising her children during the first two years of the pandemic while taking online courses as a human services major. Mariela later earned additional certificates from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the New York State Office of Children & Family Services and the University of Toronto. She plans to obtain a certificate in Spanish translation with the department of modern languages at BMCC and continue her studies at John Jay College.

Mariela’s Advice: “I want to share my life story, hoping that it can be an inspiration to other women. I want them to know that it is never too late to achieve their goals. Be strong and courageous. Your journey may be different and more difficult than others, but if you persevere in spite of adversity, you can go from trauma to triumph.”
