Meet Peggy Otum, OP's newest
Board Member
OP welcomes Peggy Otum to the Board of Directors. Ms. Otum is the Co-chair of WilmerHale's Global Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Practice. She's a seasoned environmental lawyer who represents large corporations and universities on a host of environmental enforcement, environmental justice, crisis management, workplace safety, and other environmental issues. She has played key roles in two of the past decade's largest environmental cases. She has been consistently ranked as a leading environmental lawyer and was recently inducted as a fellow of the prestigious American College of Environmental Lawyers, one of very few African American women so recognized.

She holds several board and advisory positions, including the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Environmental Law Institute, and the National Women's Law Center Leadership Advisory Committee.

As a member of the OP Board of Directors, Ms. Otum looks forward to engaging with her fellow board members, learning more about opera, and broadening her experience with performing arts.

Born in Montreal and raised in a Toronto suburb, she currently lives in San Francisco with her husband, two young daughters, and a rambunctious Portuguese Water Dog.
OP welcomes PR consultant Jon Finck to the team
OP is excited to have nationally recognized public relations marketing professional Jon Finck join the team in the capacity of press consultant. Finck is a distinguished professional with over 25 years experience in nonprofit media management and a recipient of the 2013 San Francisco Opera Guild Star of Excellence Award.

He has generated positive press and media results for many high-profile clients in performing arts businesses and private practice, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Symphony, and Music at Kohl Mansion.
Meet OP Artistic Intern and Collaborative Pianist Dana Marie Chan
Dana Marie Chan joined the Opera Parallèle team as Artistic Intern for the spring semester. A graduate of UC San Diego with a double major in Music-Piano Performance and International Business, Chan is currently pursuing her Masters of Music in Collaborative Piano from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Dana was attracted to OP’s internship program to learn more about performing arts administration and vocal and instrumental collaboration. We took full advantage of her proclaimed ‘love of spreadsheets’ and the joy and speed at which she works. Dana shared that working with OP Artistic and General Director Nicole Paiement on the score for Harriet’s Spirit and then attending the workshop early this month was the highlight of her internship. Of her experience, Ms. Chan said, “My internship with OP provided me the opportunity to see and learn how a production is created and how decisions are made.” We thank her profusely and wish her a fabulous career!
OP awarded a Civic Practice Grant from Opera America for
The Bullhorn.
OP has been awarded a Civic Practice grant from Opera America to relaunch The Bullhorn: Amplifying Unheard Voices program as an essential component of civic practice within the organization.

The Bullhorn, established in partnership with the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus and inspired by the life and legacy of Harvey Milk, seeks to strengthen existing partnerships, make new connections, and build long-lasting relationships within the Bay Area's vital LGBTQ and BIPOC communities. Its goal is to amplify unheard voices and create authentic belonging for those who seek it.
