Oscar grew up in Nueva Guinea, the south Atlantic region of Nicaragua. From a very young age he learned to take care of crops, however, due to the socioeconomic situation in Nicaragua, his skills were never able to be used. Oscar could only find jobs as a security guard on farms.

Eventually, Oscar and his fiancée Phoebe decided to get married and start a family; Phoebe came from a Christian family in Nueva Guinea and she wanted Oscar to get baptized before their wedding. From early on in the marriage Oscar and Pheobe struggled. Oscar knew very little about Jesus and didn’t pursue a relationship with God.

Oscar was depressed and about to lose his family. It was then that Oscar turned to Jesus and his heart was open to the Gospel. This time Oscar was baptized in his own faith in Jesus! Together, Oscar and Phoebe began the journey of getting to know Jesus more. The Lord continues to teach Oscar how to be a man of God.

Oscar is now working for NicaWorks! and is responsible for a small farm of 6 manzanas (10.2 acres) of land which produces Watermelons, Ginger, Cinnamon, Pineapple and other fruits. We are thrilled to have Oscar and his family as part of our team.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support,
The NicaWorks! team
