In 2020, James Cordero was selected as the franchisee for Chick-fil-A Old Bridge in New Jersey and the grand opening was on September 10, 2020. Since that day, James and his partner in life, Lucy, have been committed to Chick-fil-A Old Bridge and their team. They take great pride in being a strong part of our community and its surrounding towns, a helpful partner for our schools, treating ALL with honor, dignity and respect, and striving to ensure that all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A Old Bridge have a positive experience.
Chick-fil-A Old Bridge is now one of the most successful, highest revenue and sales tax generating restaurants in Old Bridge. More importantly to James and Lucy, their business is an enabler for positive community efforts. If a house is being built by Habitat for Humanity in our neighborhood, their team has donated food, and donated time to help paint. If the mayor’s office calls because there is a family in need, they will donate food and try to help with clothing and essentials. They have donated food to our very important first responders, schools, teachers, and libraries in our communities. They especially take great pride in helping their team members with education. A full-time employee of Chick-fil-A Old Bridge has the opportunity to get a free online degree from Point University. Separate from that initiative, Chick-fil-A awarded $40K this year alone in scholarships to 19 Chick-fil-A Old Bridge team members where they attend schools like Rutgers, Stockton, NJIT, Georgian Court, Kean, Point, Rochester Institute of Technology, U of Tampa, Sacred Heart, Marist, Westchester, Middlesex Community College, and Brookdale Community College.
James and Lucy met as kids and were raised in the same low-income neighborhood in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. They’ve been married for over 31 years and have two sons, Nicholas and David. They both are very proud of their Puerto Rican heritage and of being Americans. James received a bachelor’s degree in business from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Cornell, while Lucy received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Pace University. Lucy worked in the Advertising business in NYC for a decade before their sons were born, while James embarked on a 25-year corporate career where he managed cross-functional teams, launched products and led businesses in general management roles for Kraft Foods, Dannon, and Walmart before they embarked on the labor of love that is Chick-fil-A Old Bridge.
