Medical Bridges is honored to present Mr. Donald B. Wagner with the Chairman’s Award at this year’s Service Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 4, at Rice University’s Cohen House.
The Chairman’s Award was established to acknowledge extraordinary volunteerism and distinguished service in support of the Medical Bridges’ mission. Mr. Wagner’s esteemed endorsement of and advocacy on behalf of Medical Bridges as chairman of our Advisory Council makes him the ideal recipient.
Mr. Wagner, a retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General, began his military, medical and executive career as a physical therapist at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas during the Korean War and has held various medical posts in the U.S. and Europe throughout a 30-year career, spending his last three as Deputy Surgeon General for Operations.
In 1982, he became the Associate Vice President for Hospital Operations and hospital administrator at the University of Texas – M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. From 1985 to 1991, he then served as Vice President and CEO of Memorial Southwest Hospital. Recently he has consulted with medical professionals in China, Japan, Korea, India, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Saudi Arabia to help improve healthcare delivery access and ensure a consistent quality of service to under-resourced communities.
“Mr. Wagner selflessly brings his expansive career and lifetime of experience to the table as chairman of Medical Bridges’ Advisory Council. His skills and talents are making it possible for Medical Bridges to reach a new level of excellence.” remarked Dorothy Bolettieri, President & CEO.
