MTNA Hires New Director of Publishing & Digital Content

We are pleased to welcome Elizabeth Keri to the position of director of publishing and digital content. In this role, she will oversee the creation, design, and distribution of our primary publications—American Music Teacher magazine, the MTNA e-Journal, and the Business Digest—while providing editorial direction and strategic guidance on all MTNA content.

Elizabeth brings more than a decade of experience in editorial strategy, publication management, and digital communications across higher education and nonprofit organizations. Before joining MTNA, she served as director of communications for the College of Arts and Sciences at UNC Greensboro, where she led all strategic communications and oversaw the production of newsletters, print materials, and digital content for more than 20 academic departments. She has previously managed periodicals at nonprofit agencies, guiding the publication from concept to print, including editorial planning, writing, editing, layout, and design coordination.

Elizabeth has a personal connection to music education, having studied piano for 10 years and participating in several choirs. Her career reflects a deep commitment to mission-driven storytelling that informs, inspires, and connects communities. A Cincinnati native, she earned her MA in professional writing from the University of Cincinnati and her BA in English from Wittenberg University. She is excited to return to her hometown to support MTNA’s mission of advancing music teaching and learning nationwide.

“I’m truly honored to join the MTNA team and to support an organization that has championed music teachers for more than a century,” says Elizabeth. “The work of educators and the arts community has always inspired me, and I’m excited to help share their stories and expand their impact through MTNA’s publications and digital platforms.”

Elizabeth steps into the role following the retirement of longtime director of publishing, Marcie Gerrietts Lindsey, in July.

“I am delighted to welcome Elizabeth to MTNA as our new Director of Publishing and Digital Content,” shares MTNA CEO Brian Shepard. “For 150 years, MTNA has stood as a voice for music teachers across the nation. Our publications and digital platforms are central to that legacy, telling stories and sharing information that define, inspire, and elevate our profession. Elizabeth brings a forward-thinking vision, a collaborative spirit, and a deep understanding of how to communicate with purpose and clarity. As we celebrate this milestone in MTNA’s history, her leadership will be instrumental in shaping and carrying our message into the next 150 years.”
