Meet Our New Rector


Our new rector – the Rev. Dr. Dustin Trowbridge. Currently serving as the Rector of St. James Church in Danbury, Connecticut. Prior to his service at St. James, Fr. Dustin was the Priest-in-Charge and then Rector of St. George’s Church in Newburgh, NY. Prior to his service in Newburgh, he served as the Associate Rector at Trinity Episcopal Parish in Wilmington, Delaware. 

 

Fr. Dustin grew up in a small town in West Virginia. He did his undergraduate work at Yale University where he majored in English Language and Literature and followed that with service with the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan as an English teacher and continued as an English teacher at Fatih University in Istanbul, Turkey. Returning to the United States he enrolled at Indiana University, earning a Master of Arts in Central Eurasian Studies and a Master of Public Affairs. It was while at Indiana University that Fr. Dustin got involved with the Episcopal Campus Ministry and served as a Peer Minister with the University Ministry from where he was called to the priesthood. 

 

Fr. Dustin attended General Theological Seminary in New York, earning his M. Div. degree in 2009 and has since earned a Doctorate of Ministry from the Virginia Theological Seminary in 2020.  He was ordained a priest in 2010 by The Rt. Rev. Wayne P. Wright of Delaware, on behalf of The Rt. Rev. Catherine Waynick of Indianapolis.

 

Fr. Dustin is married to Dr. John Howell. John holds a Doctorate of Music in Voice from Indiana University, has sung with the New York City and Philadelphia Opera, the Men and Boys choir of St. Thomas, and is an Instructor of Music and Music Program Supervisor at Dutchess Community College. Their cat is Bruce.

 

Fr. Dustin will begin his service at Grace on January 16, 2023 and will celebrate his first services with us on Sunday, January 22.  Fr. Dustin and John will be our guests at Evensong on Sunday, December 4, 2022 and at our Advent Party immediately following that service.
