Alex Ingulsrud - Project Developer
Alex is responsible for guiding utility scale wind projects from early-stage development, through permitting. Alex brings over two years of experience developing wind in Illinois for Apex Clean Energy. Prior to that, Alex volunteered for an NGO in Israel and worked for a nonprofit in Illinois. Working to build the next generation of renewable facilities is now his preferred way to help advance sustainable development in communities.
Alex has a B.A. from St. John's University and an M.P.P from the University of Minnesota

The convening of world leaders in Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit at the end of October will begin the most anticipated climate conference since Paris in 2015. The point of the meeting is to secure enough new emission reduction pledges to keep the globe on track for the goal set forth in the 2015 Paris Agreement of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees C above preindustrial levels.
Heading into Glasgow, it’s worth pointing out that a lot has changed since Paris. Back in 2015, convincing countries to shift away from fossil fuels was a costly proposition. Since then, the cost of renewable energy has fallen at a dramatic rate. In the US from 2015 to 2020, the cost of onshore wind energy fell from a range of $32 - $77 / MWh (Megawatt hour) to $26 - $54 / MWh, while the cost of solar fell even faster in that 5-year period, from $50 - $70 / MWh, to $29 - $42 / MWh. That makes renewables cheaper than fossil fuels, which in 2020 had pre-subsidy costs of coal generation between $65 and $159 per MWh, and for gas between $44 and $73 per MWh (all figures taken from Lazard’s Levelized Cost of Energy Analysis – Version 9.0 [2015] and Version 14.0 [2020])
The transition to renewable energy is no longer simply a problem of collective action or painful necessity. Renewables offer a technological revolution with immense potential for saving costs and generating wealth. Given the time constraints of climate change, actions at Glasgow and elsewhere will be necessary for accelerating the transition to meet specific goals. But regardless of what policymakers do, we at NRS have experienced first-hand how financial markets are recognizing the new energy paradigm, our acquisition by BlackRock is case-in-point. Whatever the result of negotiations at Glasgow, we are confident in brighter future powered by the wind and sun.
