Calvin Canepa

Not many people are "discovered" in kindergarten, but Calvin Canepa's artistic talents were apparent at the age of 5.  "The superintendent of the Lake Tahoe school district saw a painting I did and was impressed," Canepa said.  "He contacted my mother and told her that she should expose me to as many outdoor scenes as possible so I could further develop my artistic abilities.  I had the first exhibition of my work when I was in the first grade."

Canepa is a self-taught fine artist.  He concentrates on outdoor scenes and still lifes.  The area around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada foothills are the subjects of many of his paintings.
Phill Evans

Sculptural designer Phill Evans has been producing sculptural arts and design in the Sacramento region, as well as nationwide, for more than forty years. Phill's creative curiosity is fueled by personalities, historical perspective, geophysical observations, and balancing design conclusions with the engineering sciences.

Working with metal, glass, stone, and wood, Phill has created many award-winning sculptural concepts in kinetics, furniture, figurative works, and public art. Examples of the many techniques and skills, producing classical and contemporary designs for individuals and the general public to enjoy, can be seen at  www.phillevans.com.
Debbie Claussen

Family, friends, animals, and nature are my inspiration; dancing and music define my painting process. Since childhood, animals and people were my favorite subjects. I particularly enjoy bringing animals to life, emphasizing the subject's personality.

Over thirty years ago, I began with the difficult medium of porcelain painting and learned the techniques by rendering flowers. I have exhibited my porcelain pieces in museum shows around the country. About twenty years ago I began adding watercolor, oil, and encaustic painting to my repertoire. Each medium has its own uniqueness and the way it impacts the final concept of the painting.

My paintings are collected internationally and have been exhibited in numerous shows and museums, receiving many awards. I have also published articles in the Artist's Magazine, the American Kennel Club (AKC) Gazette, the East Bay Monthly, and Sacramento Magazine.

For the past fifteen years, I have taught porcelain and watercolor painting. I am an AKC sporting dog judge, and I raise Golden Retrievers in Placerville, CA.
