Long-Time SEA Blue Participant
"After my husband, Henry, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000, my family and I sought out an organization that was actively raising funds to provide educational resources, support services, and personal connections for families impacted by this cancer. In 2007, our family began our participation in the SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk and Run. Henry passed away in 2008 and Team Poindexter, recognizing the need to step up awareness for prostate cancer and its effect on the entire family, decided to honor Henry’s memory by continuing to be a part of the annual SEA Blue event. I see the SEA Blue event as a day of sharing memories and socializing with warriors and their families, members of families who have lost someone to prostate cancer, and friends and supporters of the cause. It’s an opportunity for all in the community to, not only enjoy a fun-filled morning, but also to meet experts and collect the latest information about a cancer that touches the lives of many of our families. I would like to challenge all who came out in past years to bring at least one other person to the event on September 15th. My message to all - let’s see if we can double the participation for this 15th Annual SEA Blue Prostate Cancer Walk and Run!"
