October 2024 LUM Volunteer of the Month

Rachel Labi - Volunteer, Board Member & Student

LUM proudly recognizes Rachel Labi as the October 2024 Volunteer of the Month. For two years, Rachel has played a key role at LUM, serving as a member of the Board of Directors and Spanish translator for the Immigration Clinic. With her church, Greater Lafayette Chinese Alliance Church, she engages others to regularly participate in LUM Deep Cleaning Service Days at the Emergency Shelter.

Reflecting on her involvement with LUM, Rachel stated, "The message is beautiful. It’s not simply about eliminating poverty but restoring dignity. This community pillar has positively affected thousands of lives across Indiana, and I want to be a part of this critical mission." She encourages others to volunteer, sharing that, "Even small efforts, like packaging meals, can ripple outward to improve community wellbeing and support children facing food insecurity. Every bit of time given makes a difference."

Rachel’s dedication to LUM reflects the spirit of volunteerism that sustains the organization and enhances the lives of countless individuals across the Greater Lafayette area. LUM is grateful for Rachel’s dedication and leadership. Her story shows how small actions can lead to meaningful change. If you're inspired by Rachel's story and want to get involved, visit the LUM website to explore volunteer opportunities and learn how even a small contribution of time can make a lasting difference in our community.
