To my Waccamaw Neck Friends & Neighbors:
My name is Sandra Bundy. I am a candidate for Georgetown County Council District 1. I want to introduce myself and tell you why I am running.
I encourage you to visit my website at SandraBundy.com for more detailed information.
BORN AND RAISED IN MURRELLS INLET
My connection to Murrells Inlet goes back generations. I grew up here as the daughter of Capt. Alex Sing, a pioneer in the Inlet’s charter fishing industry, and Betty Jo Sing, who ran our family business, Capt. Alex’s Marina.
As a child, I worked in our family store and marina, surrounded by the fishermen, boat captains, local families and small businesses that defined the fishing village of Murrells Inlet long before it became the community we know today.
Murrells Inlet isn’t simply where I live - it is who I am. It is where I grew up and built a lifetime of relationships.
COMMUNITY LEADER
My upbringing has given me a firsthand understanding of both what makes Murrells Inlet special and the challenges we face today as our community continues to grow.
For decades, I have worked to protect the Inlet and the quality of life of the people who call it home. I am a founding member and President of the Business Alliance for Protecting the Atlantic Coast, where I have worked to protect our coast while recognizing how closely the health of our natural resources is tied to the strength of our local economy.
I also founded Our Marsh Counts, a community initiative that brings together local organizations and residents to reduce marine debris and protect the Murrells Inlet watershed.
FORMER PLANNING COMMISSIONER
For more than four years, I served on the Georgetown County Planning Commission, where I dealt directly with the difficult land-use and growth decisions that are shaping our community.
All these experiences have given me an unusually broad perspective on Murrells Inlet - its history, its environment, its economy, its growth, and the people who live here.
THE PUBLIC RECORD
I believe a candidate's record matters.
My years of community service and work on the Planning Commission have given me a close-up view of the decisions that are shaping Murrells Inlet and the rest of the county.
When you compare the backgrounds, experience, and public records on the issues affecting our community, there are critical differences between my record and that of my opponent, Clint Elliott.
