A Celebration of Light: Lantern Light-up

Tuesday, November 11, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Around this time of year, many cultures even celebrate holidays by including lights in their festivities. Join us as we make one-of-a-kind lanterns and light up the afternoon with a lantern procession through Discovery Woods! Inclement weather may result in changes to the program, or cancellation.

SMART Gals (Science, Math, Art)

Exploring DNA

Wednesday, November 19, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Join us as we learn about women who have made important contributions throughout history to the fields of science, math, and art. Chemist Rosalind Franklin made great discoveries and contributions to what we know about DNA. We’ll honor Franklin’s work and learn about other women who use what she discovered in their own research by making strawberry DNA necklaces and creating DNA-inspired self-portraits!

Make a Mess: Fragrant Fall Fingerpainting

Thursday, November 20, 10:00am12:00pm

We're putting a seasonal twist on a favorite messy experience by adding scents to our finger paints. Get ready to get messy with paint because your hands and fingers will be your “tools” today! What kind of masterpiece will you create?

Be a Data Scientist

Friday, November 21, 10:00am – 12:00pm

How tall are Discovery Museum visitors? What kind of pets do they have? Learn the answers to these questions and more as we play with data. We’ll use a variety of ways of collecting and displaying data while exploring some fun and silly science.

Especially for Me

Mask On, Play On!

Saturday, November 15, 5:00pm – 8:00pm

Join us during this special free evening for visitors who are more comfortable in a mask-wearing environment.

Enjoy a fun, friendly experience in our accessible and universally designed children’s museum while exploring our interactive exhibits and participating in hands-on activities. Any family or group who can benefit from a limited capacity, mask-required visit is welcome at this event; a medical diagnosis is not required.

High touch surfaces are disinfected throughout the day and all exhibits will be given extra cleaning before the evening event. All staff will be wearing masks and all visitors ages 2 and older will be required to wear a mask while inside. A large portion of our campus is outside, and visitors have the option to remove their masks while outdoors.

Advance registration is required.
