After the Cub Scouts, he joined Boy Scout Troop 1452 in Finleyville, PA, where he was inducted into Order of the Arrow Kiasutha Lodge 57 and, in 1980, earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
While in college, Jeff served as Scoutmaster of Troop 228 in Birmingham, AL, and after college moved to New Orleans, where he was Scoutmaster of Troop 76. In 2000, he founded Pack 210 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Russellville, and restarted Troop 210 in 2003. He has served as Scoutmaster of Troop 210 ever since. Jeff has also served the Council as a District Commissioner and District Chairman and was awarded the Distinguished Commissioner Service Award and the District Award of Merit.
In 2003, Jeff founded the Arkansas Nuclear One National Engineers Week Merit Badge University. Since then, he has been instrumental in awarding the Nuclear Science or Atomic Energy Merit Badge to more than 900 Scouts at the Arkansas Nuclear One event and at merit badge universities at Fayetteville and Little Rock.
Jeff is a Work Week Manager of Production at Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville and has been employed there in various capacities for over 28 years. He is a registered professional engineer in Arkansas and Louisiana.
He is also active in the Knights of Columbus and serves as a 4
th Degree Navigator. He has previously served as Grand Knight and District Deputy.
Jeff retired from the United States Navy at the rank of Commander with over 28 years of service and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom VI having earned the Bronze Star for meritorious achievements and service in Iraq.
Jeff has been married to the former Christi Lynn Garrity of Gretna, LA for 29 years. The Priore’s have four children – Clarissa, a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology; Anthony, a Life Scout and wildland firefighter and former United States Marine; Patrick, a Star Scout and Second Mate on a tanker barge in the Gulf of Mexico; and Stephen, an Eagle Scout and graduate of Russellville High School. Jeff, Anthony, Patrick, and Stephen are all members of the Order of the Arrow.
Jeff’s most enjoyable aspects of Scouting are remaining connected with Jim Christman, his Assistant Scoutmaster, who introduced him to Atomic Energy Merit Badge in 1975 and connecting with adult leaders at the Arkansas Nuclear One Merit Badge University. Like many adults in Scouting he values the watchfulness he is trusted with like you see in that famous Norman Rockwell painting – The Scoutmaster.
