Q:  Tell us about your history working on behalf of the Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library.

I discovered the Friends Art Gallery at the Spanish River Library when an artist friend of mine had an exhibition at there and invited me to the reception. Later that year, I applied to show my own work and  there I was, having an exhibition with a wonderful curator and local artist, Barbara Montgomery O'Connell.  She enjoyed the exhibition and encouraged me to apply again with a different series of work. I had a second show in 2015. So, being a Boca Raton resident since 1992,  I thought it was time for me to give back by accepting the invitation to be the new curator, to continue with the wonderful exhibitions that are displayed at the Friends Art Gallery.
Q: What projects have you worked on that are particularly memorable?

Last year I exhibited 34 of my paintings at the ZOcean Hotel in Miami's South Beach, during Art Basel, an international art fair featuring galleries, artists and curators of modern and contemporary art, and was fortunate to sell 4 of my works.

Q:  What is something people might not know about you?

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and raised on a farm. I was a kindergarden teacher until I came to the U.S, and taught English while I went to UC Berkeley in San Francisco.

Q: What do you think is an underused feature of the library?

The art gallery.  The visual arts are the simplest form of communication.  A child, or someone who does not speak, read or write our language, can respond to an image and  the library has this fantastic venue.  I have been painting for over 30 years, and when I see an artist's body of work and really understand his/her creative process, I want to make sure that the message is well displayed at the gallery.
