We’re pleased to announce that Dr Tomas Remenyi will deliver a keynote at FRANC 2025: “Climate Change impacts on rainfall intensity.”
About the Speaker
Dr Tomas Remenyi is a climate services professional who translates complex climate science into practical tools and advice for decision-makers. With a decade of experience delivering climate services across natural hazards, emergency services, energy, government and agriculture, Tom brings scientific rigour and a systems-thinking approach to real-world problems.
About the Presentation
Tom will review past and recent estimates of future high-intensity rainfall across Australia, compare projections with recent observations, and discuss how confident we should be in those projections. He will outline the recent updates to Australian Rainfall and Runoff climate guidance, highlight tools and resources available to practitioners, identify key gaps that collective action could address, and propose pragmatic, low-regret strategies flood managers can apply to simplify decision-making.
What You’ll Take Away
- Which climate scenarios and projections matter most for flood management planning
- How recent observations align with earlier estimates of high-intensity rainfall and what that means for confidence in the science
- Key updates in Australian Rainfall and Runoff climate guidance and how to use them
- Practical tools and resources for practitioners to access and apply
- Priority gaps where collaboration or funding would deliver the greatest benefit, plus pragmatic suggestions for immediate action
Who Should Attend
Researchers, flood and emergency managers, planners, infrastructure operators, policymakers, and industry professionals who need usable climate information to inform decision-making.
We’re honoured to have Dr Remenyi bring his practical perspective to FRANC 2025 — don’t miss the chance to hear evidence-based guidance that you can apply right away.
