Kickapoo Valley Reserve Update
The Kickapoo Valley Reserve pandemic proof*
Dam Challenge Triathlon is back!

September 25 - October 2, 2021
Race proceeds directly support the Education Programs at KVR
The “Do It Yourself Race” allows racers or teams to self-schedule their time to paddle 7 miles of the winding Kickapoo River, peddle 15 miles of scenic Driftless roads, and run 3 miles of wooded trail during the last week of September, when fall colors should be a sight for screen-weary eyes! This year’s race window begins on Saturday, Sept. 25th, and closes at 4:00 pm on Sat., Oct. 2nd. All registration swag bags and winning auction item(s) must be picked up at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Visitor Center by 4:30 pm on Oct. 2nd. To pandemic-proof the event, racers will be staying distanced while going the distance, as each individual or team will compete on their own time. The race route will be clearly marked, and times will be self-reported. The beauty of the winding river, roads, and trails await!
*this model of the race is temporary for 2021
We know you miss the traditional Dam Challenge Race. So do KVR Staff and Volunteers. But stick with us!
We've got big plans to make the BEST Dam Challenge even better on the other side of the pandemic.

2021 Summer Education Intern
Hi ! My name is Andrea Auel and I am the 2021 summer intern at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. So far I have loved working here. As I child I went here a lot and I knew a couple of staff members already as my Aunt worked here previously, now I am working with some of the same instructors that instructed me! When I am not helping with Camps or any other work at the KVR, you can find me playing drums and guitar, reading, drawing, painting, etc. and just spending time in the out of doors in any way I can. Come mid-late August, I am to start attending UW-Green Bay, with the intention of pursuing a career in environmental science. I am excited for the weeks to come and I hope to see you around!
