Meet our new Human Resources Director

Katie Golbach has been promoted to Director of Human Resources after years of exceptional dedication and professional growth. Since joining the Village in 2018, Katie has implemented an online open enrollment program and a new applicant tracking software, overhauled the performance evaluation program, drafted new policies and employee handbook revisions and recruited for numerous positions.

“Ms. Golbach has successfully transformed the Department’s operations to enhance employee experiences and increase efficiencies,” said VIllage Manager Dane Bragg. “She is an incredible asset to the Village, trusted and respected by her colleagues, and I am confident in her abilities to support both our current and next generation of public servants.”

GiveNKind opens new distribution center

Welcome to BG, GiveNKind! Last week, nonprofit resource provider GiveNKind opened its new distribution center at 1000 Asbury Drive. GiveNKind is a unique and sustainable nonprofit that takes excess goods (that could otherwise end up in the landfill) from businesses and distributors and connects them with the needs of area nonprofits. This program helps solve resource issues on a large scale, helping people and the environment. It's smart, with heart.

Last year, their staff and volunteers distributed over $10 million in donated goods to nearly 200 nonprofits in Chicagoland! The new location in BG will provide adequate space as they continue to expand operations. Learn more and get involved in their efforts here.

Get in the growing spirit at the Raupp Museum

Have you visitied the Raupp Museum's temporary exhibit, American Farmer? This national traveling exhibit, open through March 16, is a celebration of the living spirit of our heartland, told through the faces and voices of the people who keep it alive.

On Sundays this month, February 4-25, from 1 - 4 p.m., visitors to the museum can learn more about farming and create a free, take-home radish sprout garden. No registration is required.
