Staci Fosenburg, Ph.D., licensed psychologist
|
|
The Center is pleased to welcome our newest psychologist.
Dr. Staci Fosenburg is a licensed psychologist who values helping people rediscover meaning and connection in their lives. Throughout her career, she has empowered clients to identify their own values and strengths, overcome obstacles to wellness, and align their behaviors with meaningful action. Dr. Fosenburg has advanced training and experience working with clients who are trans/gender-nonconforming or nonbinary and other members of the LGBTQ+ community. She also has specialized training in working with teens and young adults, children and teens with ADHD, and people living with chronic medical conditions. Using a warm, collaborative style, Dr. Fosenburg tailors her approach based on each client’s personality, cultural context, concerns, and goals for therapy. Dr. Fosenburg received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Iowa.

The Invisible, Insidious World of Biases and How It Affects Your Life

The underlying foundations of isms are biases. They can be mistaken for values and used to govern your life, eliminating room for differences of perception and perspective.

The United Nations has sponsored International Women’s Day on March 8 since 1975. If you've lost a loved one to suicide and need support, please contact Andrea Severson at aseverson@dmpcc.org.
This support group is offered on the third Tuesday of the month as a free community service, with thanks to generous supporters of the Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8-Week Course
|
Required Orientation: Thursday, March 25, 2021 – 12:00-1:30pm CST
Class Dates & Times: Thursdays, April 1 – May 20, 2021 – 12:00-2:30pm CST (Apr 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, (May 1 day of mindfulness) May 6, 13, 20)
Day of Mindfulness Retreat: Saturday, May 1, 2020 – 9:00am-3:00pm CST
Although stress is at the cause of many physical illnesses and psychological disorders, it is not often diagnosed or treated at the root level. There are very few resources that effectively treat stress as a condition. MBSR is an 8-week intensive course, backed by 40 years of research, proven to reduce the symptoms of stress and anxiety.
