There is much to be said for storytelling. We all have a story... some of us are better at writing it than others. Your LinkedIn About section should include your 'why' as to why you do the work that you do and, hopefully, why you are passionate about it! It will help to convince the members attracted to your profile to think about working with you. Who doesn't want to work with someone who loves what they do?!
That said, I am super happy with the investment I have just made in Synne Linden of Lindentree, a gifted Swedish writer. I've written over 500 profile summaries (a/k/a About) over the past decade, but to write my own story? Ah, no... can't manage that one. TIP 1
It's all in a name - Learning the correct pronunciation of a prospect or client's name is fairly important in sales. There is a new option in your LI profile to enable all Viewers to know, instantly, how to pronounce your name. With my own Scottish name, I love this feature! How: On the mobile app, tap your headshot in upper left > View Profile > tap pencil icon to the right of headshot > Name pronunciation > record. It's a 10-second recording - practice until satisfied, save when done, and the speaker icon will display next to your profile name on all devices. Super Tip: Take advantage of this marketing opportunity!
TIP 2
Filters available - It's common to do lots of Searches on LinkedIn, whether for prospects or hiring. Be sure to take advantage of all the filters available, even on the Basic Membership, to narrow down results. How: Start your Search, typically with a keyword or title > notice the row of filters that appear under the Search field > work your way, left to right across the choices, and your results will become more targeted > Super Tip: Be certain to tap All Filters to gain 14 additional filters! My favorites are Industry choices (there are 147,) and the Title field at the bottom.
