Meet the Assessment Team: University of California, Irvine
"Our aim is to develop an observation system practitioners can use to observe classrooms and improve teacher practice and student outcomes."

Carol Connor, University of California, Irvine
University of California, Irvine's research studies are taking place in Southern California.

Observational Tool:
The assessment team will develop a technology-based observational tool that can be used by practitioners in prekindergarten through third grade classrooms to assess instruction, teacher-child interactions and the classroom learning environment.

Known as the OLOS Early Learning Observation System, the tool will address the need for a comprehensive, multidimensional assessment of structural features, classroom processes and the quality of instruction, at the level of the individual child, in subject matter areas associated with child outcomes across the transition from preschool to third grade.
