Volume 108 | September 30, 2022
Feeding Time.
When last we reviewed a Jeepers Creepers sequel in 2017, the series was still in the hands of controversial creator Victor Salva. A lot has changed in five years. Today, Salva is out, the franchise has been rebooted, and the Now Playing Podcast hosts are here to review Jeepers Creepers: Reborn for supporters.

A Jeepers Reboot?
Yup. This time the action moves to a Louisiana Horror Hound festival, presumably so audiences can be subjected to several meta jokes and lines like, "This is the Coachella of cosplay."

Sounds Delicious
Oh it's yummy, and if you support Now Playing at the Jeepers Level of our 2022-23 Fall/Winter Donation Drive you'll get all four Jeepers Creepers reviews plus 38 additional bonus episodes! It's a feast!
Also included in this season's donation drive, the in-progress Addams Family series PLUS the forthcoming Wicker Man and 100 Years of Dystopia retrospectives. Tap any of the photos below to be taken to our Donation Drive page, and THANK YOU for your support.
RETURNS OCTOBER 21
STARTS NOVEMBER 4
STARTS DECEMBER 9
Forgive me, I've been in a funk this week ever since I found out the song "I Just Want to Make Love to You" was not a Foghat original. Well, that and the fact that I also watched Eraser in anticipation of Tuesday's review. Before you've scrubbed the memory of Arnold's 1996 "hit" from your memory, make sure you render your verdict in the poll below. ALSO, tomorrow is a brand new month, and we've got a preview of Everything Coming to Now Playing Podcast in October 2022. PLUS, we're kicking off another giveaway, and YOU could win a streaming code to watch The Infernal Machine starring Guy Pearce and Alice Eve. THEN, find out what one of your fellow IN FOCUS readers thinks about an obscure 80s science fiction musical in the latest What You're Watching. AND we'll wrap things up with a horrific Time Capsule -- also from the 80s!

Remember the song "Always Something There to Remind Me" by Naked Eyes? I just found out that's also a cover. I've been lied to my entire life.

► Sorry fam, we have no plans to review 2022's direct-to-nowhere Eraser: Reborn. If you've seen the Schwarzenegger original, like our hosts have, maybe you can understand why.

-- In case you missed Tuesday's review, Eraser is the one where Arnold shoots an alligator and says, "You're luggage." A grown man said that line.

-- Let's get your verdict on this thing, red, green, maybe brown? Hear the Review
What's Your Verdict: Eraser
Green Arrow
Brown Arrow
Red Arrow
► If you weren't around to witness Arnold's peak in the early 90s, we'll spoil it for you right now: It never got as good as his last collaboration with James Cameron.

-- Here's further proof: a whopping 98 percent of YOU gave 1994's True Lies a GREEN arrow. After that came Eraser (see above) and some upcoming flicks that we'll review, but you might be weary of watching.

-- Let's remember Arnold's last big one. Hear the Review
NEXT WEEK BANNER
► While Arnold's career had primarily spanned the action and sci-fi genres, 1999's End of Days saw the star in his first horror (more like action-horror) flick.

-- On Tuesday, October 4, our hosts return for Schwarzenegger's dance with the devil (actually Gabriel Byrne) as our series continues.

-- In this one, Arnold's character is named Jericho Cane, and I can't stop laughing at that.
► Then, on Friday, October 7, our hosts will finally, hopefully, explain what the hell Rob Zombie was thinking with this Munsters movie.

-- The musician/director got the gig, cast his troupe of character actors (and wife, of course) as the monster family, and then came... that trailer.

-- Is this some kind of Andy Kaufman-esque prank? Become a patron and find out next Friday!
LISTENING PLEASURE
Everything Coming In October 2022
► While Zombie's Munsters is intended to be family friendly, Now Playing is embracing its hard-R horror roots in October and returning to some fan favorite retrospectives.

-- There's also going to be more Arnold, more Addams Family, and the return to the DC Extended Universe, if they're even calling it that anymore. Here's everything coming to Now Playing Podcast in October 2022. Read More
GIVE IT AWAY NOW
The Infernal Machine
► Hey, it's Friday, let's do another giveaway! Our friends at Paramount have hooked us up with five streaming codes to the new psychological thriller The Infernal Machine, starring Guy Pearce, Alice Eve, Alex Pettyfer, and Jeremy Davies.

-- If you subscribe to this newsletter, or if you're a member of our Facebook Listeners Group, you're automatically entered to win! Winners announced October 7!
Every month, Now Playing IN FOCUS features a reader review.
This month, we're featuring a submission from listener Howard Feinberg.
► "Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1984): Finally, a musical with the courage to center a romantic number in the women's bathroom. Voyage of the Rock Aliens is a silly musical full of new wave technopop musical numbers not necessarily related to each other or the overall "story." It is not at all good, but the music is fun, so I enjoyed it. Should you just grab the soundtrack instead? Perhaps, but then you'd miss the ridiculous music videos that go with it."
► FYI, our regularly scheduled What We're Watching feature will return next week!
IN FOCUS Time Capsule
► We love our franchises at Now Playing, but every once in a while we like to do something out of the ordinary, like we did ON THIS DAY in 2016 -- kicking off our Horror of 1986 retrospective with a review of The Hitcher.

-- We'll be getting back to themed retrospectives when our 100 Years of Dystopia series launches later this year. To get an idea of what that sounds like, check out the '86 episodes. Hear the Retrospective
And that's that.
