It’s already November and that means we’re getting ready for our prime boating season in Florida which kicks off on December 1st. Now is the time to complete your routine maintenance and upkeep for your boat. Whether it’s a fuel system inspection, propeller performance, painting the bottom or fiberglass repair, Shearwater is here for you.
We also want to remind you that while our name may be new to you, we’ve got the same great crew here that have been servicing you for years. We’ve also added on some wonderful new additions to our team. Check out the crew below and let us know how we can assist you!

Jim Dragseth
President
Founded in 1947 by his father and uncle, Jim has been with the family business for more than 50 years. His favorite part of the job are the challenges that come with it. His strong work ethic and strategic thinking, combined with his ability to learn and understand all aspects of the marine industry, have made him an effective leader in an industry that has seen dramatic changes over the last half-century. He is described as being patient, optimistic, and proactive. and In his free time, he enjoys fishing, golfing, spending time with his family. Jim is deeply involved in the community, serving on the boards of many nonprofits over the years, with a focus on education, environment, the economy and marine industry issues.

Jed Wood
Vice President
Jed joined the company (formerly Whiticar Boat Works) in 2012, bringing with him more than two decades of experience in boat building, repair, and maintenance. His favorite part of the job is developing and implementing growth strategies as he evaluates performance and productivity, all while helping employees achieve their goals. His strong work ethic, commitment to customer service, marketing acumen, and software development skills have been a key part of the company’s successful growth. He is described as hard-working, passionate, and dignified. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife as well as volunteering with nonprofits that help improve our marine environment.

Adolf Ellert
Manager
Adolf has been with the company for more than twenty years and has a wealth of experience in the industry. His favorite part of the job is working with Jim because he admires and respects his character. His ability to reason, extensive knowledge, and hard work are what has made him successful within the company. He is described as outgoing, friendly, and dedicated. In his free time, he enjoys going to the Florida Key's with his wife and golfing.

Tom Berryhill
Service Manager
Tom joined the company (formerly known as Whiticar Boat Works) back in 2005, bringing with him more than 36 years of experience in the industry, as well as specialized knowledge of fiberglass and painting. His favorite part of the job is establishing client relationships and providing excellent customer service. He is described as hard-working, persistent, and likable. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family.

Assistant manager
Barret has been with the company for more than 13 years and brings a deep knowledge and understanding of the many different parts and services that Shearwater provides. His favorite part of the job is the work environment and being able to learn something new every day. He is described as attentive, positive, and outgoing. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and fishing.

Special Projects Manager
Bob has been with the company since 2016 and but has been working in the marine industry for nearly six decades. His ability to build strong client relationships, as well as his deep and profound knowledge of the industry, is what has led him to success through his career. His favorite part of the job is getting to work with qualified captains. He is described as thoughtful, insightful, and experienced. In his free time, he enjoys kayaking, traveling, and visiting his grandchildren.

Service Administrator
Crystal has been with the company for nearly 5 years and brings with her an outstanding knowledge of service, the ability to build strong client relations, and dedication to providing exceptional assistance and support to customers. Her favorite part of the job is overseeing government projects, setting expectations, and clear communication. She is described as humorous, genuine, and driven. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.

Mary has been with the company since June. Her favorite part of the job is helping others succeed. Her ability to build and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers, as well as being organized, is what has made her successful in her position. She is described as friendly, supportive, and passionate. In her free time, she enjoys music, spending time with family and friends, and, prior to COVID-19, attending live concerts.

Lewis has been with the company since June. His favorite part of the job is dealing with the clients and facing new challenges every day. Although new to Shearwater, he has been in the marine industry for about 40 years. His extensive knowledge of marine engines and running gear are what has made him thrive in the industry. He is described as sincere, knowledgeable, and dedicated. In his free time, he enjoys camping and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
