The Fort Ord Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) office in Marina, holds regular community workshops regarding environmental cleanup, munitions response, and property transfer. These workshops provide updates on fieldwork, land use covenants, and community outreach efforts and include information tables lead by technical staff to discuss the latest cleanup efforts taking place on the former Fort Ord.

Our Water Conservation staff will be on hand to share tips like detecting water leaks or retrofitting water-wise fixtures in your home. Our Water Resources department will be available to explain our plan for a secure, sustainable water supply.

The Open House portion of the event will include informational tables on:
- Munitions Cleanup
- Prescribed Burn
- Groundwater Cleanup
- Landfill Updates
- Habitat Restoration
- Environmental Services Cooperative Agreement
Bus Tours of Fort Ord
After learning about the cleanup at the Open House, you may take a FREE bus tour and see parts of the former Fort Ord that are currently restricted to the public.
There are two bus tour times available:
Tour 1: 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM*
Tour 2: 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM*
*Please note: Bus tour return times are approximate. During each tour, there will be two buses available. Each bus will have its own route.
Bus 1 will tour the Fort Ord Impact Area. This is the area of Fort Ord that is fenced off and currently closed to the public. Munitions cleanup work is still being conducted.
Bus 2 will visit the Fort Ord Operable Unit 2 Landfills, and then tour the northern portion of the Fort Ord National Monument.
Sign-ups are not required but are highly encouraged as seating is limited.
